The History of Tomb Raider by Pix'n Love

Update (22 March 2018):

This week marks the first anniversary of L'Histoire de Tomb Raider. Pix'n Love released 4 of the numberous anecdotes contained in their book for this special occasion. Below are our custom translations of these:

First Tomb Raider anecdote:

"On the first sketches Lara doesn't have the self-assurance that characterizes her yet. She got it from Tank Girl, an English comic from the eighties with a punk ambience. Lara Croft owes a lot to Rebecca Buck!"

Second Tomb Raider anecdote:

"Tomb Raider Anniversary was originally a PSP game developed by Core Design (*)! This version could be played with a second player (playing as Melissa Croft). Eidos gave the idea to Crystal Dynamics then cancelled the game (80% completed). Core Design discovered it through the press..."

Third Tomb Raider anecdote:

"After Tomb Raider The Last Revelation Core Design suggested the script Tomb Raider The Ultimate Prey, a darker title where Lara becomes a target for a TV show, like in a Hunger Games. Eidos didn't want of it and requested something more classic."

Fourth Tomb Raider anecdote:

"Lara Croft's birthday is on the 14th February. The Japaneses decided of it as the first game was released on the same day. By the way its name is Tomb RaiderS in Japan. In the manual an official image of Lara in a manga style can be seen."

Released in March 2017, L'Histoire de Tomb Raider written by Alexandre Serel is the book every true Tomb Raider fan needs to own in his collection. In its 486 pages the book includes thirty hours of interviews of the various developers of the franchise (Core Design and Crystal Dynamics) and unveils a lot of secrets regarding the games (the book covers the 1996 to 2008 era, from Tomb Raider to Tomb Raider Underworld). The book was made available in three editions: standard, Atlantis and Collector.

The standard edition:

The Atlantis edition (limited, with a numbered certificate of authenticity, an additional cover and three exclusive illustrations):

The Collection edition (that was limited and quickly sold out, it came bundled with a Play Arts Kai figure of Lara Croft):

When asked on Twitter, Pix'n Love confirmed that the book will be available later in English (without any indication of a potential release date as of now) but in the meantime we invite you to enjoy our custom translation of the free sample pages of the book below:
