Tomb Raider Games FMV Differences

TOMB RAIDER

LOGO FMV

The PC version of this FMV is missing the "presents" after Core Design's logo appears which is present in the PlayStation and Saturn versions. Oddly, the Saturn version is dated 17th September 1996 and the PC version on 2nd October 1996 so one would expect that the PC version should be no different and yet it is.

FMV 02

In this version of the FMV from E3 1996, a part of the mountain where the caves are found is missing, revealing the sky, which uses a different texture. In close-ups, Lara is not wearing her gloves. When the wolves rush out, there was one additional shot which was later cut, showing Lara hurling her knife at one of the wolves.

FMV 06

The PlayStation version of the FMV is shorter than the PC version, ending when Von Croy gazes at the Amulet of Horus as a thunderstorm suddenly begins. On PC, the FMV is extended by two further shots. One of the statues of Set look down at Von Croy. After the thunderstorm ceases, we see another shot of Von Croy outside the Temple of Semerkhet in broad daylight.

In the Japanese version, the sound effect of the Temple of Semerkhet's door closing in on Lara is different.

FMV 08

When Lara knocks Ahmed to the ground, the shot of Ahmed falling to the ground differs between the PlayStation and PC versions.

FMV 11

In this shot, the Amulet of Horus is missing from Horus's breast plate in the PC version. The locust swarm animation is also different in both versions.

TOMB RAIDER CHRONICLES

GENERAL DIFFERENCES

For the first time, there is a different number of FMVs between the PlayStation and PC versions. The FMVs are split into eight videos in the PC version whereas in the PlayStation version there are only six.

In all FMVs of the beta version, Jean-Yves appears instead of Charles Kane. When Jean-Yves was replaced, his model was redressed to create a new character. Also, each FMV either plays the original Tomb Raider theme or the jeep music from The Last Revelation.

FMV 01

In the beta version, the dialogue of the news reporter on the car's TV is missing.

FMV 04

In the final version on PSX, Jean-Yves can be glimpsed. When Charles Kane sets his sights on Lara, he changes into Jean-Yves in the last frame of one of the shots.

FMV 05

When Winston leads Father Patrick and Charles Kane into the trophy room, one of the video frames is blank in the PC version. In the same FMV and version, Zip's line is cut short, missing the words "in position, facing the Von Croy".

FMV 06

The location of the toast to Lara is slightly different in the beta version. The lighting shines is brighter and the carpet on the floor can be seen.

TOMB RAIDER THE ANGEL OF DARKNESS

GENERAL DIFFERENCES

In the official trailer, the FMVs are much more colourful than that seen in the final version.

FMV 02

After Von Croy is murdered, a shot was cut when Lara kneels down to examine his body. In the cut shot, Lara lightly kisses Werner's cheek before placing him down.
